By the year 2010, the permanent resident population of Shanghai has been more than 23 million, covering an area of 15 thousand square kilometers. Urban size expanding continuously makes transit trip diffi cult within partial area of the city. Trial shuttle-bus service has begun in Shanghai since March, 2011 to cover the 'last one kilometer'. After period of investigation, trial running of 'last one kilometer' public transport in Shanghai is summed up from aspects of network operation, economic and social benefi t as reference for future practice of Shanghai and other cities.
