东晋名僧慧远在佛教史上影响深远,话本小说《庐山远公话》即以他为主人公。做为寺院"俗讲"的底本,话本为哄动视听,增添了许多子虚乌有的情节,更有甚者,创作者还为这位名动凡俗的高僧设计了一个因果报应的故事框架。如果和慧远本人的真实经历及其果报观念联系起来,颇耐寻味,昭示了宗教与文学的纠结。

Hui Yuan , a famous monk in the Dongjin Dynasty, effects profoundly in the Buddhism history. He is considered as the protaganist in the novel Remarks of the Lu Mountain. The novel, as the origin script for monks’ text-book, is very sensational with many false plots. What’s more, the novel writer designs a story frame of cause and effect based on the renown monk. The novel shows the entanglement between religion and literature if it is associated Hui Yuan’s own experience and the concept of cause and effect.
