A Research on Changes and Operation of Shanghai Laugh Stage

清末民初新潮演剧的兴盛,除了世纪交替时期的社会时代原因和中国戏剧从古典形态向现代形态转型的自身需要之外,还得力于一批新式剧场的出现。笑舞台作为文明新戏运动后期出现的以专演新剧著称的剧场,为后期文明戏的生存发展作了最后的坚守,为清末民初新潮演剧的繁荣作出了积极贡献。同时它也见证了后期文明戏由盛至衰的整个全过程,从它的变迁和演剧活动,可以折射出后期文明戏的发展演变和生存状况。从第一手资料入手作历史的考察,可以从模糊的历史镜像中还原一个较为真实的笑舞台。

Trendy drama comes into existence at the turn from the Qing Dynasty to the early period of the Republic of China.This is due to the social development,changes of drama from being classical into modern,and to the setup of theaters of new design.Being theaters serving merely new dramas appearing in the later stage of the New Civilization Play Movement,Laugh Stage firmly supported Civilization Play in their survival and development,and made positive contributions to the boom of the Civilization Plays in this period.Moreover,they also witnessed the vicissitudes of the Civilization Play,from its prosperity to decline.A rather true Laugh Stage can be restored to emerge out of hazy historic scene by historical research with first-hand materials.
