The history of the activity on low order equivalent systems is reviewed.The origins of the approach are described in some detail,so the mormal equivalent transfer function applied to the logitudinal axis of modern aircraft is defined,meanwhile,the context for the subsequent acceptance of the method for the Military Flying Qualities Specifications is clear.This paper also attempts to put in context about the controversies that developing process around the method,and to point out the advantages and disadvantages of the method.
