As an intelligent wireless communication technology, cognitive radio can sense electro- magnetic environment and resolve the utilization and management of spectrum resources. It impacts the military communication profoundly. The basic concepts and characteristics of cognitive radio are introduced here and the advantages of the cognitive radio used in military communication are specially discussed.
