摘要
人类日益频繁的交往和现代通讯工具尤其是互联网的发达,是现代应用语言学兴起并将在21 世纪获得更大发展的基本推动力。本文综合评述应用语言学的复杂性、多科性及其理论研究模式,认为本学科将更加注重对外语( 主要是英语) 教学过程各因素的研究,特别是开展对语言教学内部问题和学习者“内部”问题的认知科学研究。
A retrospective review of the development of applied linguistics (AL) shows that AL in the coming century will continue to grow in depth in the following respects: (1) the multi_factor process of language teaching entails a more systematic approach to its various components; (2) the multiple bases of AL keeps it abreast of its relevant disciplines and updates its theory and practice; (3) the wide scope of its application leads to a more diversified approach to languages and language teaching; (4) the search for its own theoretic model and the rise of second language acquisition will produce a number of spin_off effects on language teaching.
