In his Yue Man Tang Diary , Li Ciming gives an account of some of his opinions about ancient fictions. He emphasizes the textual value of ancient fiction, which he considered can supplement the historical records. At the same time he also emphasizes the moral education function of the ancient fictions. Li was good at textual study, left quite some textual research on the ancient fictions and their authors, frequently with u- nique academic insights, which may give some inspiration to our research of ancient fictions.
