It is commonly recognized that most phrases of non-identifiable reference occur typically in a context in which an entity appearing for the first time is referred to by a non-identifiable element because of lacking identifying cues. However, such an entity also occurs in certain special environments. This paper has made and comes to the conclusion that the a detailed description to these special environments phrases of non-identifiable reference may occur in various contexts, but pragmatically, their function to refer to an entity that can not be identified by the receiver remains unchanged.
