The key point of garden and landscape design is to understand and deal with the relationship between human and nature. Different views on the nature made different design methods and styles in history. With the concept of sustainable development widely acknowledged in the world, how to deal with the relationship between human and nature has a profound meaning. By comparing the traditional garden and landscape art styles in Eastern and Western, differences between the two kinds of views on the nature were summarized. Through analyzing the evolution in recent years, sustainable development and harmony with nature were revealed as the same destination in the future.
