摘要
"相当"义为"相对",即使被用于描述物体在空间上的分布关系时,也是如此。"相当"揭示的是事物之间在方向、长度、位置、距离、数量、形状、大小、事理等方面相对应、相一致的关系,而非"面对面"式的简单关系。"整齐"并不能充分揭示"相当"的丰富内涵。《说文》释"当"为"田相值",与"相当"有着密切的内在联系。
The word Xiangdang（相当） still had the meaning of Xiangdui（相对）, even though it was used to describe the spatial relationship between objects. It revealed corresponding relationship between objects in the direction, length, location, distance, number, shape, size, abstract reasoning and so on, rather than ＂face to face＂ type of the relationship. The expression ＂in good order＂did not adequately reveal the rich connotation of Xiangdang（相当）. The meaning of Xiangdang（相当） was closely in line with the word Dang（当） that had the meaning of＂field corresponded＂ in the ancient book Shuowenjiezi（说文解字）.
