The Memoirs of the Bloody Shanghai Battles in 1932 is a documentary vernacular Chinese writing published in 1932.It is concerned with the 156th Brigade commanded by Gen.Voong Chew-heng to resist against Japanese aggression in the Shanghai war of 1932.It also describes the heroic exploits of other fighters of the 19th and 5th Armies and records the thoughts and feelings of Gen.Voong and his soldiers about the war.This paper studies the background of the times,the central ideas of the chapters,and the chief features of the text.It contributes to the Chinese history of the anti-Japanese wars and the study of Chinese documentary writings.
