Ways and steps by application of MD2 model animations on advanced education fields in colleges and universities are discussed.MD2 file format is a 3D model file format used in Id Software＇s Quake II engine.It is a popular 3D model file format because of its simplicity and use without any charge.The general format of MD2 files is introduced and analyzed in great detail and the three dimensions animation with the OpenGL API in the programming environment of Visual Basic 2010 Express Edition is developed.There are four methods for rendering the model and their three-dimensional animation effects are compared respectively.A lot of experiment results show that these algorithms can be used in general MD2 files.There is great significance in the application of the MD2 model animation to theoretical and practical training is significant.
