By and large, Gadamer criticizes the romantic hermeneutics, so that he gives up its methodical route and achieves an ontological shift of hermeneutics. But in fact, there is a great legacy of romantic her- meneutics in Gadamer＇s philosophical hermeneutics. Many of his core ideas, such as the locating of herme- neutics, the principle of historically effected consciousness, the ontological turn of hermeneutics guided by language, and so on, can be traced back to the romantic hermeneutics.
