On the Theory of Participatory Democracy in the West

西方参与式民主理论是针对代议制民主的重大缺陷而产生的。参与式民主理论强调,"参与"是民主理论的本质特征,标志着古典直接民主的某种复兴;但参与式民主理论不能代替代议制民主,而只能成为代议制民主的补充形式。西方参与式民主对代议制民主的批判,对我们认识西方选举民主的弊端有着重要作用;参与理论强调"参与",对我国的社会主义民主建设也有着重要的启示意义。

Western participatory democratic theory is the major defects arising in representative democracy.It emphasizes that＂ participation＂ is the essence of democratic theory,marking a renaissance of classical direct democracy,but it cannot replace representative democracy;instead,it can only be complementary form of representative democracy.The critique of western democracy to representative democracy plays an important role in our knowledge of malpractice of Western democratic election,and its emphasis on＂ participation＂ also has important enlightenment to our country＇s socialist democratic construction.
