文章论述了可持续发展的内涵及其基本特征，参照国内外学者对可持续发展定量方法研究的有益见解，提出创建可持续发展定量评价统计指标体系应遵循的基本原则，并从经济可持续发展、社会可持续发展、自然生态可持续利用三方面构建了一套全面定量评价可持续发展的指标体系。

The present paper studies the implication and fundmental features of sustainable developent. Furthermore, in reference to the research of other scholars, the writer advances a set of basic principles for the statistics index system for the quantitative evaluation in terms of sustainable economic development, sustainable social development and sustainable utilization of natural environment.
