With American dreams, Gatsby, the hero in Tne Great Gatsby＇, attempted to achieve success with his own effort, while his dreams became distorted before being strangled. It was the alienation between people and things created by those people in capitalism, and the alienation between people and people that resulted in Gatsby＇s tragedy.
