Liang Qichao's Thoughts about National Culture from the Viewpoint of Nation and State

梁启超认为,民族文化是民族国家建立和发展的基础。他珍视中国传统文化,反对国粹派以西学附会国学的做法;认同儒学在国学中的地位,反对将儒家文化定为国教,将孔子设为教主。梁启超主张文化的多元性,在弘扬儒家文化的同时,要包容其他文化。

Hang Qichao thought that the national culture was the basis for the establishment and development of the nation and state. He treasured Chinese traditional culture, but was against the viewpoint of the Guo Cui School （meaning Chinese Culture Quintessence School） which made a far-fetched comparison between western learning and national studies; He recognized the status of Confucianism in the national studies but he opposed making the Confucianism as the national religion, considering Confucius as the founder. Liang Qichao advocated cultural pluralism, that is, accepting other cultures while carrying forward the Confucianism.
