This article presents the characteristics and common failures of special governor for Pelton turbine and describes the structure and testing of the six-nozzle-and-deflection-model governor system in Yele Hydropower Station which houses a vertical impulse turbine generating set with the highest capacity in Asia.Characteristics of the governor,such as novel structure,advanced control functions,high reliability etc.are highlighted,providing some helpful advices for using special governor for large sized Pelton turbine in future.
