Master of modern historiography, Fu Si - nian, takes objective positivism as the essence of his historical thoughts. However, there is some contradiction between his advocating idea and scholarship method, which arises partly from his single - minded pursuit of academic thoughts and partly from reality conflicts as well as his patriotic value orientation. Therefore, one should take a dialectical attitude towards the contradiction of his historical thoughts and fully absorb its reasonable components. This should be taken as the single right attitude toward Fu＇ s historical thoughts. The paper outlines and analyses the signs and sources of his contradictive historical thoughts, as well as realistic enlightenment and？ limitation of the contradiction.
