Yin and Yang,Digital Technology and the Differences between China and the Western Countries

以"0"和"1"为基本元素的二进制算法是数字化技术的核心。随着计算机和互联网的发展,源于西方的"数字文化"理念已扩展至全球。从形式上看,"0、1"与《易经》中的"阴、阳"极为相似,甚至《易经》的卦象系统本身就是一种二进制编码组合。在这种表面的相似性之下,实则隐藏着中外思维方式和认知方法的巨大差异。本文分析了数字化方法与传统阴阳学说在认识世界、分析世界和重构世界方面的异同之处,进而论述了中西方科学文化体系在对待"整体"与"局部"、"物质"与"精神"时所采取的不同态度及方法。

0 and 1 are the core of digital technology. With the development ot computer and the lnternet, digital culture from the West countries is disseminating in the globe. In form, 0 and 1 are similar to yin and yang in The Book of Changes. In fact, this similarity in appearance has great differences in thinking way and cognitive way. This paper analyzes the similarities and differences of digital way and traditional yin and yang in understanding the world, and further, different attitudes are adopted in dealing with ＂whole＂ and ＂part＂, ＂substance＂ and ＂spirit＂ in the scientific and cultural systems in China and West- ern countries.
