Examination of the Historical Facts in Xin Tang Shu

《新唐书》在撰写时大量使用了野史、笔记、碑志、传状、小说等,很大程度上造成《新唐书》史料运用不精或史料记载错误。这与编撰者对原史料理解有误或失于考证等有很大关系。

Many unofficial historical records, novels, tablets, and notes were used in the composition of Xin Tang Shu, and the historical facts presented were not accurate. In addition, the author did not comprehend historical data correctly and committed many errors as indicated in the third example in this paper. As Yan He was not so famous, the author mistook his name for Yuan He. The author made similar mistakes in the seventh and the twentieth examples. In the ninth example, for historical data, the author failed to understand the historical data and mistook Gong Du for Ying Yun. The fourteenth and the fifteenth examples are mistakes derived from false historical data. This paper lists twenty places and makes corrections of some errors in Xin Tang Shu.
