阮大铖是晚明一位善写喜剧的著名作家,其极富创作特色的《石巢四种》风靡大江南北。他深谙曲律、通晓舞台技艺,在蓄养家班不断演出的基础上,与当时著名艺人(彭天锡等)和戏曲鉴赏家(王思任、张岱等)密切交流合作,研艺赏曲,积极创新,为促进昆剧的普及和繁荣做出了重要贡献。

Ruan Dacheng in the late Ming Dynasty is best known for his comedies.His masterpiece Shichaosizhong was a big hit all through China.As an expert in melody and performance,he has his own art troupe.He had close cooperation with the famous artist,for example,Peng Tianci and the critics,for example,Wang Siren and Zhang Dai,to name but a few.Their cooperation has been made great contributions to the spread and flourishing of Kunju Opera.
