市民社会与市民空间设计

DESIGN AND THE CIVIC REALM

本文从阐述市民社会的概念定义出发。分析了市民社会与国家和私人生活领域之间的相互关系，并在此基础上提出了有关市民空间设计的理论框架以及良好市民空间的设计检验标准．作者认为，良好的市民空间设计不仅要重视社区对私密性的要求，同时还要照顾到社区内部各种对立的社会关系：作为市民与特定城市地点之间相互作用的真实写照，它应当是形体特征．生活阅历，综合效力和社会支持等既相对独立又彼此关联的因素共同作用的结果．从本质上说，市民空间设计是贯穿于建筑设计和城市设计过程的一种思想方法，是认识和理解城市场所并准确判断当地所需的一条有效途径．

Starting with defining the term civic and analyzing on the relationships between the civic society and the state and the private realm.this paper proposes a broad conceptual framework of the civic realm and design, as well as five importamt balancing tests. As a centralassertion of this ariticle, the author believes that the creation of good civic spaces entails not only interpreting the community interest of the private sectorbut also including all of the inherent tensions. invoiving personal interaction with a particular urban place, good civic design is conceptually defined by the four normative dimensions of appearance, experience. effectand sponsorship that are more or less interdependedt yet overlapped to each otherFundamentally good civic design is a way of thinking through mathers of urban-architecture design and of coming to know and understand urban places as well as being in a position to say something meaningful about what might be needed here.
