Yuan Tongli and the Academic Research in National Library of Beiping from 1928 to 1937

袁同礼先生在主持国立北平图书馆的工作期间,非常重视学术研究,将其视为图书馆的重要使命之一。他不仅以身作则,积极参与学术活动,还在馆内倡导学术研究之风。馆内学术研究蔚然成风,涌现出了众多广有影响的学术成果,造就了一批蜚声国内的学者。

When Yuan Tongli was the director of National Library of Beiping from 1928 to 1937,he attached great importance to the academic research in the library.He not only conducted research himself,but also encouraged his colleagues to do it.He offered higher salaries,created opportunities for the librarians to go abroad for further education,and helped his colleagues to publish their works.The above-mentioned measures enhanced the librarians＇ enthusiasm to do researches.Consequently,great academic achievement was achieved and many world-known scholars were born.
