As a western contemporary literary criticism, Reader-response Criticism focuses on the readers, not on the writer or text as before, so it shows great concern with the readers＇ horizon of expectation, dynamic reading process and subjective initiative. From the perspective of Reader-response Criticism, this article makes a study of Absence and Uncertainty in the novel The Killers, with a view to find out what effect or response the two elements will bring the readers while reading and enjoying the original or translated novel.
