Death in the Woods is one of famous short stories of Sherwood Anderson,a best-known American writer.It describes the life of a humble old woman,who finally died for the oppression of patriarchy and masculism.This article aims to analyze the female image under the patriarchal system in terms of three aspects： social system,marriage life and natural environment.
