摘要
首先借助LOB语料库分析了wide和broad的语义共性及个性,列举其常用词块,总结两者常用的搭配行为及类联结,发现两者语义虽有差异但类联结基本相同,搭配词有差异;其次借助CLEC语料库考察了中国英语学习者对wide和broad的语义及搭配行为的掌握情况,结果显示中国英语学习者可以掌握wide和broad的部分语义,但在词块习得上却完全没有掌握broad的常用词块及搭配行为语用失误严重。
Using the LOB Corpus, this paper first analyzed the semantic generality and individuality of the two adjectives - "wide and broad", summed up their commonly used lexical chunks, concluded their collocation behaviors and coUigations. We found that despite the semantic differences between the two adjectives, their colligatious are more or less consistent, except for the different collocating words; second, with the CLEC Corpus, we made a survey on Chinese English learners' learning situations of the semantics and collocation behaviors of the two adjectives, our results showed that Chinese English learners could master parts of their semantics, but as for the lexical chunks, they had not mastered the commonly used lexical chunks and collocation behaviors of "broad" yet, resulting in severe pragmatic failure.
