Prof RUAN Jisheng and Prof LIU Zhiheng with the CAS Institute of Microbiology were announced laureates of this year＇s Bergey Medal for their decades-long commitment to the study of actinomycete taxonomy at the first meeting of Bergey＇s International Society of Microbial Systematics （BISMiS） held in Beijing from May 19 to 22, 2011. It was the first time that the Medal, one of the highest awards given in recognition of life-long contributions to systematic bacteriology, went to Chinese scientists.
