According to my original plan 1 was to head home to see my family on May 24th.The night before my departure I left work in Kitwe to go gambling with six of my coworkers in Lusaka.Lady luck was with me that night as I ended up winning 1000 American dollars. As I headed back to the hotel at 2 A.M.I couldn't get over just how lucky I had been.As I entered my room,for a fleeting moment I wondered if it might not be best to take the pieces of ivory that I had bought out of my luggage before heading out in the morning. However seeing as how I couldn't remember where exactly I put them that thought was gone as quickly as it formed.I thought about how lucky I had been that night and imagined that I couldn't possibly run into any problems getting through customs the next day,at worst I'd probably have to pay a bit of money to get through. However by morning it seemed as if my luck had finally run out. The ivory I was carrying was seized by customs and I myself was facing the possibility of felony charges.
