Ben Agger,well -known Canadian Marxist philosopher, has done in -depth research on Marx＇s historical dialectics, and gained his original understanding. He combines historical dialectics with the feasibility of socialist practice, holding that historical dialectics is the theoretical weapon for realizing socialism in North Ameri- ca; he thinks that historical dialectics adheres to a ＂ middle path＂ between materialism and idealism, and be- tween determinism and non- determinism, always trying to find a unity between ＂ driving force from the struc- ture＂ and ＂driving force from a purpose＂ in a capitalist society, so as to combine the crisis of capitalism with the revolutionary will of the working class; he uses historical dialectics to explain the social ideology in a capitalist society, so as to reveal the ＂rationalized irrationality＂ of capitalism, and to strengthen the class conscience, will and action of the proletariat to change the irrational society.
