＂Hongyan＂ is a word of high frequency. As the most authoritative dictionary, the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary has a comparatively mono--definition of this word. Based on the corpus statistics, this paper concludes that ＂hongyan＂ has five senses as a dictionary entry, such as ＂beauty＂, ＂femi- nine＂, ＂looks of beautiful ladies＂ and ＂rosy cheeks＂, etc.
