中国雕塑史的研究一直较为薄弱,甚至连中文的"雕塑"一词,学界也认为是从日本传过来的,并指明说是日本的中国美术史研究专家大村西崖"创造"的,事实上",雕塑"一词不是大村西崖"创造"的,而是中国自古就有的,至少最晚在中国宋代的古籍文献中就出现了"雕塑"一词,此后的元明清各朝一直都在频频使用,且涵义与今天日本、中国美术界所用的"雕塑"一词是相同的1。相较中国传统雕塑的研究,中国现代雕塑史的研究更是非常薄弱。20世纪上半叶,西方雕塑体系传入中国,中国现代雕塑得以兴起,成为中国近代美术发展史的重要组成部分,
Compared with the research on Chinese traditional sculpture, the research on the history of Chinese modern sculpture has lagged far behind. The emergence of Chinese modern sculpture, as an important part of the art history of development in modern times, can be dated back to the first half of the 20th century when the Western sculpture was first introduced into China. But due to various reasons, the academic circle has so far just started to study this particular period in art history. This article elaborates the basic information of the fine art students studying aboard in modern times and their contribution to the emergence of Chinese modern sculpture soon after they returned.
