In this paper a case study of renovation of a cooling/heating system at a confectionary factory in England is introduced. The cooling and heating requirements were previously handled separately by chillers and boilers. The client was required to replace the equipment. Through analysis and comparison of four alternatives a thermally coupled cooling and heating system was adapted and significant operational and environmental benefits have been successfully achieved.
