Philosophy of Theory and Philosophy of Praxis:Which is the First?

理论哲学与实践哲学涵括了哲学的全部领域。然而,一部西方哲学史实际上只是理论哲学即形而上学的历史,实践哲学则被隐于形而上学的阴影之下,为形而上学所遮蔽。其实,实践哲学作为一个重要的哲学领域,应当是贯穿于西方哲学史的、异于形而上学的一个十分重要而广阔的哲学领域。

The relationship between the ancient Greek'philosophy'and'polis'is exemplified in Aristotle's thought as philosophy of theory and philosophy of praxis,which covers the whole range of philosophy.However,a history of western philosophy is solely a philosophy of theory,or a history of metaphysics,relegating philosophy of praxis as completely secondary.This paper takes Aristotle's dilemma concerning whether philosophy of theory or philosophy of praxis being the first philosophy as its point of departure,and then discusses the changes in the meaning of theory and praxis in early modern philosophy as well as the trend of philosophy of theory back towards philosophy of praxis in modern philosophy.It asserts that philosophy of praxis is the basis and prerequisite of philosophy of theory and therefore is the first philosophy.Meanwhile,this paper,by reinterpreting the relationships between theory and praxis,philosophy of praxis and its universality,proposes that due status should be accorded to philosophy of praxis which is the real philosophical form that post-metaphysics should take.
