In this paper, the construction and performance of vacuum furnace with high-pressure gas-quenching system are introduced. The process parameters, such as vacuum pressure, heating speed, quenching temperature and cooling speed etc, of treating high speed steel by high-pressure gas--quenching are discussed. The process of bars, drill bits and thread rolling wheels are enumerated. The hardness data and photos of the metallographical structure after quenching treatment are given. The advantages of this technology are summarized.
