The Various Approaches to English Lexis

词汇在语言研究占据重要的位置,长期以来得到广泛的关注。传统的词汇学通常涉及构词法和词汇语义。本文通过审视不同理论框架对于词汇的研究,讨论词汇和语法的关系,说明随着各种语言学理论的出现,英语词汇的研究产生了很多的视角,深度和广度发生了很大的变化,指出原有的英语词汇研究框架已经不能适应英语词汇研究的实际。因此,具有时代特色的英语词汇学需要重新审视其学科的研究范围和方法,整合各个领域的词汇研究成果。

Lexis occupies an important place in linguistics and thus has attracted the attention from the linguistic circle for a long time.The focus of traditional lexicology is usually on word formation and the meaning of lexical items.By examining the lexical studies in different theoretical frameworks,this paper discusses the relationship between lexis and grammar and illustrates that many approaches to English lexis have appeared with the emergence of various linguistic theories.Now that changes have taken place both in depth and in breadth,this paper points out that the original framework of English lexicology cannot fit in with the reality of English lexical studies.Thus,a new English lexicology needs to reconsider its scope of study and its methodology and to integrate the achievements in lexical studies made in various fields.
