Lake Reclamation and Returning Farmland to Lake along the Yangtse River in Anqing

安庆沿江湖泊围垦历史久远,本世纪初开始退田还湖。湖泊围垦与退田还湖反映了人地关系的演变。湖泊围垦旨在解决人多地少的矛盾及其粮食短缺问题。退田还湖有效改善了沿江平原农村生态环境,有利于防洪抗灾及湿地资源开发利用,也促进了沿江湿地自然保护区建设。发展湿地产业,延伸湿地产业链是解决围垦与还湖矛盾的关键环节。提出了继续实施退田还湖必须关注的重大问题。

Lake reclamation along the Yangtse river in Anqing has a long history,and returning farmland to lake started from the beginning of this century.Those changes reflect the relationship evolution between human beings and farmlands.Lake reclamation aimed to resolve the conflict between a large population and less arable land and food shortage.Returning farmland to lake has improved the local rural ecological environment,which has also enhanced flood-control,disaster-combat capacity and the development of wetland resource,as well as the promotion of natural wetland reserve construction.The development and extension of the wetland industry,which could resolve the contradiction between reclamation and farmland,has become the key link of the construction.The major issues for continuous returning farmland to lake are also discussed in this paper.
