HU Yuan,a Thinker and Educator in Song Dynasty

胡瑗是宋代著名思想家、教育家。胡瑗是宋代义理易学的先驱,"宋初三先生"之一。他勤勉自励,严谨治学,"穷经以博古,治事以通今",其理学思想对于推动儒学革命,促进儒学的发展发挥了巨大的作用。胡瑗高度重视学校教育的作用,他主张"明体达用"大胆进行教学改革,首开分斋教学之先河,在中国教育史上有着极其重要的地位。胡瑗淡泊名利、功于诲人,求真务实、锐意创新,正人律己、为人楷模的高尚人格,也感动朝野,影响后世,被尊为"先儒胡子"。

HU Yuan is a famous thinker and educator in Song Dynasty. He is not only the righteous pioneer but also ＂the third one of Mr. Song＂. Because HU Yuan was diligent selbmotivated and rigorous scholarship, he could be learned in books by social reality. His science thought had played a huge role for promoting the revolution and development of Confucianism. HU Yuan attached great importance to the func- tion of university education. Advocating to learn in order to practice, he first proposed the teaching division, which in the Chinese history of ed ucation have extremely important status. HU Yuan was indifferent to fame and wealth, committing to education, seeking truth and keening on Innovation. We moved and affected by his noble personality, so we called him＂the first Confucian scholars,mr. Hu＂.
