D.H. Lawrence is one of the most talented British writers in the 20th century and at the same time, a most controversial one as well. He loved nature passionately and put almost all kinds of animals into his works. Meanwhile, he criticized the western industrial civilization severely, trying hard to find the true value of life and the rebirth of mankind throughout his lifetime. This paper focuses on his ideas on the non-human animals and explores his particular animal philosophy.
