Wu Benxing and the Modernist Poetic Upsurge in the 1930's and 1940's

吴奔星等创办于北平的《小雅》杂志是1930—1940年代现代主义诗潮中一份颇有影响的诗刊。吴奔星的诗作既有"纯诗"的艺术探索意识,又努力将倾心人生的悲悯之爱、关注现实为人民大众请命的襟怀、现代人被"异化"现象的思索与自我情感世界诗性的开掘结合起来,化为一种个人与时代、现实与想象、存在与玄学结合起来的歌唱。努力沟通新诗的朦胧传达与接受理解之间的关系,是他新诗理论批评一个珍贵思考的侧面。

The magazine Hsiao Ya run by Wu Benxing and others in Peiping was a quite influential poetry magazine during the modernist poetic upsurge in the 1930＇ s and 1940＇ s. In his poem writing, Wu Benxing showed his consciousness of artistic exploration in ＂pure poems＂, and also tried to instill his sorrowful and sympathetic affection into human life. He showed concern for the reality, and integrated his mind to make pleas on behalf of the masses of the people, his meditation about the alienation of the modern people, and his exploration of the poetic nature in people＇ s self-sentimental world. And he turned this integration into a chant of an individual and his time, the reality and his imagination, and the existence and his metaphysics. Working hard to link the relation between the obscure expression of new poems and their acceptability and intelligibility was an aspect of his precious thinking in his theoretical criticism on new poetry.
