Blazing New Trails in a Pioneering Spirit Laying Equal Stress on Academics and Creations:ZHOU Siyuan's Study on A Dream of Red Mansions——The Seventh Summary of Redology by Contemporary Scholars

周思源《红楼梦》研究的主要用力点包括两个方面:一是创作方法研究,二是人物研究,代表性著作诸如《红楼梦魅力探秘》、《红楼梦创作方法论》以及《探秘集———周思源论〈红楼梦〉》等。周思源创作方法研究源自于对传统的现实主义理论难以充分解释《红楼梦》题旨和艺术特征的深度思考,他认为《红楼梦》成功地运用了象征主义,并创造了一种我们尚未认识的"主义"———象征现实主义,这一新说就为《红楼梦》艺术研究开拓了新境;周思源的人物论角度新、辨析缜密、新见迭出,与他的创作方法论相辅相成。总之,周思源的创作方法论和人物论均与长篇小说创作相联系,体现了他学术研究应为创作实践服务的学术旨趣。

The studies on A Dream of Red Mansions by ZHOU Siyuan focus on two aspects ： one is the study of creation method, the other is the study of characters. Exploring the Glamour of A Dream of Red Mansions, Creation Methodology of A Dream of Red Mansions and Exploring--Statement of A Dream of Red Mansions from Zhou Siyuan are his representative works. The study of creation method came from his deep thinking about locutionary meaning and artistic characteristics which are hard to fully explain according to traditional realism. In his point of view, A Dream of Red Mansions applied the symbolism successfully, and created symbol realism which is new for people and blazing a new trail in art studies. His study of characters is characterized by new angle, deliberate analysis, count- less fresh ideas and in line with his creation methodology. In a word, the study of creation method and the study of characters from ZHOU Siyuan are linked to his novel production process, reflected his academic purport--academic research cater for creation practices.
