The Compatibility and Contrariety Between Chinese Culture and Western Culture——Take the Grassroots Image by Yan Geling for an Example to Examine Her Literary Creation

严歌苓作品中的底层形象可以根据其作品主题大致分为两类,移民生活中的底层人物和国内特殊历史时期社会、文化浪潮的见证者。他们都是生活贫苦的人,作者通过对他们生活境况的描写以及人性心理的描摹,展现出这些边缘人物生活的窘迫,人性的本真或扭曲,体现出作者深受中国传统和海外移民的双重影响,力图在中西方文化的碰撞冲突中对最具矛盾深刻性的身份及情感认同问题予以真实展现与深入剖析。

The image of the grassroots in Yan Geling＇s works can be classified into two types： one is the immigrants who live in the bot-tom of the society,the other is the witnesses of the special historical society and tide of culture in home.Both of them are poor people.The author unfolded the embarrass life of those people and the twisty or genuine of humanity by describing their living condition and mental state.All of those indicated that the author are affected by the dual influence of Chinese tradition and overseas immigrant,and meanwhile trying to make a deep analysis of the contradicted identity and emotion in the conflict between Chinese and Western cultures.
