文化翻译的可译性限度问题

On Limit of Translatability in Cultural Translation

可译性限度问题是西方翻译理论的三大核心概念之一。从跨文化的视角出发,指出文化翻译的可译性的理论来源于文化的普同性和兼容性,但文化的差异性即地理环境、生活方式、背景与习俗、社会文化传承、宗教信仰与价值观念等方面的主要差异使文化翻译具有限度。因此译者要发挥主观能动性,采取归化和异化的补偿策略,使不可译性向可译性转变。

The limit of translatability is one of the three core concepts in western translation theory. This essay points out that the theory of translatability in cultural translation originates from the cultural similarity and compatibility. But the cultural differences, which are the major differences in geographic environment, life style, background and customs, social culture inheritance, religious belief and values, make the cultural translation limited. Therefore, the translator should develop his subjective initiative and take the compensation strategy of domestication and alienation to make the untranslatability change into translatabihty.
