The Pen Troops from Japan were aware of the ideological war’s importance to take over the leadership of Beijing’s culture and art during the war of resistance against Japan. They attempted to intervene, control and infiltrate Beijing’s literary circle by inviting Beijing’s writers to The Greater East Asia Writers Congress, awarding the prize for Greater East Asia Literature, establishing official literature organizations and alternating intimidation and bribery to literature organizations in campus. However, because Beijing School of literary tradition took very strong root in Beijing’s literary circle, not only was the ideological war alienated by official writers in a certain sense from aesthetic aspects but also resisted tactfully by the literature organizations of Yanching University and Fu Jen Catholic University.
