An Investigation into the Luo Ying-gong' Birth and Death Dates

清末民初岭南名士罗瘿公的诗词、京剧剧本、史料掌故著作及交游活动均有重要研究价值,然现存诸家著述对罗瘿公的生卒年记载多有讹误,不利于进行上述研究。借助罗瘿公的诗歌作品及其友人的诗文,可考证出罗瘿公生于同治十一年八月二十日,卒于民国十三年八月二十五日。

The poems,opera scripts,historical anecdote works and social activities of the Guangdong socialite Luo Ying-gong living at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China period are of great research value,but there exist numerous errors about his birth and death dates in the existing writings on him.With the help of his poems and his friends' poems and writings,it can be decided that he was born on November 20,the eleventh year of the Tongzhi reign period and died on August 25th,the thirteenth year of the Republic of China.
