In the article, it is expounded that new farmers are the market-oriented, cultural and technical farmers who are adap- tive to the requirements for both modem market economy development and new rural construction. It is emphasized that great attention should be paid to rural education; establishing training platforms for new farmers is regarded as the key point of the expanding service implemented by the libraries of agricultural colleges and it is expected to make contribution to the mission of building a new socialist countryside and a harmonious society.
