Non-Government Organization and the Construction of a Harmonious Society in Western China

和谐社会构建是一项长期而艰巨的任务。西部地区地域辽阔,自然条件差,经济社会发展相对滞后,社会结构复杂,民族分布、文化构成多样,社会发展过程中重大问题积聚程度较高,政府单一治理勉为其难,需要非政府组织的大力合作。然而西部地区非政府组织的发展却存在着缺乏独立性、资源不足、能力不足、发展不平衡的问题,应加快改革步伐,使其在西部地区和谐社会构建中发挥更大的作用。

The western part of China suffers from various disadvantages,such as extreme vastness,unfavorable natural conditions,economic and social stagnation,complicated social composition,ethnic and cultural diversity,and too many insuperable problems passed down from history.These disadvantages make it impossible for the government to tackle alone each and every facet of the society in this part of China,and therefore,the cooperative efforts from non-government organizations are vital in the construction of a harmonious society there.
