自强”思潮是伴随着“向西方学习”的思想而形成的自强自立、振兴中国的新思潮。它萌芽于19世纪40年代地主阶级经世派林则徐和魏源提出的“师夷之长技以制夷”的思想。经过太平天国农民阶级领袖和洋务派的发展,以19世纪七八十年代资产阶级早期维新派提出的“变法自强”、“振兴”

The ideological trend of self improvement is the new ideological trend of being independent and rejuvenating the Chinese nation that came into being accompanied by the idea of learnig from the West.It was developed from Lin Zexu and Wei Yuan's idea of learning from aliens to cope with aliens in 1840s.Further developed by the pesasant leaders of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and the people who proposed foreign affairs,the new ideological trend finally came into being marked by political reform for self improvement and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation put forward by early bourgeois reformers in 1870s and 1880s.
