Nonstoichiometry behavior of La_(1-x)Sr_xCoO_(3-δ) series perovskite oxides was studied by XPS and cyclic voltammetry. The results indicated that the chemical states of La and Sr in the oxides were barely influenced by their relative content. Substitution of Sr for La results in the valence state change of some cobalt ions from Co3+ to Co4+ and the increase of the lattice oxygen vacancies.
