浅析中国近代绅教的冲突与磨合

CONFLICTS AND COMPROMISES BETWEEN CHINESE GENTRY AND WESTERN MISSIONARIES IN MODERN CHINA

由于帝国主义文化侵略的本质和中西两种文化价值观念的分歧，近代西方传教士与中国绅士在价值取向、经济利益、政治特权和文化传播等方面发生了尖锐冲突。但当时任何一方的力量都未强大到战胜对方的程度，随着中国近代社会经济、政治和社会结构的变化，为了共同的生存和利益，双方又不断磨合调适。这种矛盾冲突与磨合调适的过程从正反两方面影响了中国近代的历史进程。

The nature of cultural invasion waged by imperialism and the differences in the outlook on value between China and the west brought about the serious conflictS between west ndssionaries and chinese gentry of views of values,econonmic interests,political priviledges and cultural dissemination. But neither of them is strong enough to prevail the other , and the changes in social economic, polihcal and social structures and the need for coexistence and interests makes them compromise to each other, It is the cochicts and compromises that have both positive and negative influence uponChina's progress in modern times.
